IGP Egbetokun Commissions New Police Housing In Kano, Vows Greater Focus On Welfare
The Inspector-General of Police, Dr Kayode Egbetokun, has today commissioned over 300 newly constructed residential units and accompanying facilities for police officers in Kano State a move hailed as a bold step towards uplifting the welfare and morale of officers in the Nigeria Police Force.

The housing projects, located at Bompai and Zaria Road, include not just modern accommodation, but also a 48-office administrative complex, armoury, transport workshop, worship centres, internal road networks, and shopping spaces for POWA (Police Officers’ Wives Association).
Speaking at the event, the IGP said the gesture goes beyond bricks and mortar it signals a new philosophy that places dignity and wellbeing at the heart of national security. “No officer should fight for a nation by day and sleep in indignity by night,” he declared, stressing that better living conditions will drive professionalism and performance across the Force.

Dr Egbetokun also acknowledged private sector partners for their support and commended President Bola Tinubu for backing the ongoing reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He assured that similar initiatives are underway in other parts of the country as part of a wider push to reposition the police for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
With renewed commitment to institutional reform and personnel welfare, the Force says it is building not just infrastructure but also hope, motivation, and a more secure future.
