Ghanaian ECOMIG Troops Support Girls’ Education In The Gambia

In a heartwarming show of solidarity and community spirit, the Ghanaian ECOMIG contingent (GHANCOY 9) brought smiles and hope to students of Farafenni High School during a humanitarian outreach.

Led by Lieutenant Colonel Ronne Yaw Agbemafle, the team donated essential school materials and sanitary pads, with a strong emphasis on supporting girls’ education.

The gesture didn’t stop at supplies Captain Victoria Yayira Galley also held a sensitisation session on menstrual hygiene, helping to break taboos and promote confidence among the female students.

Grateful for the support, the school’s principal described the initiative as both timely and impactful.

This outreach is part of ECOMIG’s broader mission to promote peace and foster social cohesion through meaningful community engagement.
