Information Ministry Launches Anti-Corruption Unit, Renews Commitment To Transparency
In a bold move to deepen accountability in public service, the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation has inaugurated its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), with strong backing from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The induction ceremony, held on Thursday, 31st July 2025, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Radio House, Abuja, signals a renewed pledge to uphold integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct in government operations.
Representing the Permanent Secretary, Ogbodo Chinasa Nnam, Director of the National Archives of Nigeria, Dr. Evelyn Odigboh, described the ACTU launch as more than a formality but a clear statement of intent. “Integrity is not optional; it is the soul of public service,” she said, affirming the Ministry’s full support for the Unit.
ICPC’s Mr. Kayode Kupolati, who delivered a goodwill message on behalf of the Commission’s Chairman, praised the Ministry for aligning with the national anti-corruption drive.
He outlined ACTU’s critical roles from conducting risk assessments and staff sensitisation to ensuring compliance with ethical standards and urged the Ministry to empower the Unit with the tools it needs to function effectively.
Mrs. Anita Odeh, who now chairs the newly formed ACTU, thanked the Ministry and ICPC for the trust placed in her team.
She pledged to lead with openness and dedication, promising that the Unit will uphold its mandate with courage and professionalism.
The event concluded with the administration of the Oath of Allegiance to the Unit’s members, followed by a group photograph to mark the historic moment.
