NUJ FCT, China Cultural Centre To Host 7th Nigeria–China Table Tennis Tournament November 15
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council, in partnership with the China Cultural Centre in Nigeria, is set to host the 7th edition of the Nigeria–China Friendship Table Tennis Tournament on 15th November 2025.

The announcement was made during a courtesy visit by NUJ FCT Chairperson, Comrade Grace Ike, and members of her executive to the Centre in Abuja.
They were warmly received by Mr Yang Jianxing, Director of the Centre and Cultural Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy, alongside other senior officials.
Comrade Ike expressed deep appreciation for the longstanding relationship between the NUJ FCT and the China Cultural Centre.
She described the partnership as one that goes beyond sport, noting its significance in strengthening cultural ties and professional development.
“We’re here to show appreciation for your continued support and to further deepen our collaboration,” Ike said. “From cultural exchange programmes to training opportunities and our annual table tennis tournament, this partnership has grown meaningfully over the years.”

She also extended a formal invitation to Mr Yang and his team to attend the upcoming NUJ FCT Press Week scheduled for 22nd July 2025 at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, where the Centre is expected to play a key role as a longstanding partner.
Appealing for increased cultural exchanges, Ike called on the Centre to create more opportunities for journalists to benefit from immersive experiences and training in China.
In his response, Mr Yang welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to promoting cultural understanding.
He highlighted key activities hosted by the Centre since its establishment in 2013, including Mandarin language classes, art exhibitions, and traditional Chinese music and dance shows.

He confirmed that preparations for the 7th Table Tennis Tournament are in full swing and expressed optimism that this year’s edition would be even more vibrant.
Mr Yang also responded positively to the request for training opportunities in China, assuring the NUJ FCT that efforts would be made to secure at least one or two slots for deserving journalists. “China and Nigeria are more than partners we are family,” he said, commending the media’s role in bridging cultural gaps.
