Imo Government Launches Anti-Vandalism Unit To Tackle Destruction Of Public Property
The Imo State Government has taken a firm stand against the rising wave of vandalism affecting public infrastructure across the state, with the official launch of a dedicated Anti-Vandalism Unit.
Announced on 15th July 2025, the initiative comes amid growing concern over the deliberate destruction of government-owned facilities, which authorities say is hampering development and affecting citizens’ quality of life.
In a statement signed by Nze Chinasa Nwaneri, Special Assistant to the Governor on Monitoring and Compliance, the government described the situation as alarming and unacceptable, promising swift and decisive action against perpetrators.
The newly inaugurated unit has been mandated to operate immediately, with a clear mission to track down and bring to justice those responsible for acts of vandalism.
“This is not just about damaged property — it’s about the future of our state,” the statement read. “We urge every Imolite to support the unit by reporting any suspicious activity.”
To make public participation easier, citizens have been provided with two hotlines:
📞 09024053508
📞 08139128766
The government has pledged to keep a close watch on the situation and take all necessary steps to safeguard public assets. The call to action is clear: vandalism will no longer be tolerated in Imo State.
