Anambra Police Nab Dreaded Cultist Linked To Oko Killings, Abductions
In a significant breakthrough in the fight against cult-related violence, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Awkuzu, Anambra State, have arrested a notorious cultist identified as Chukwujekwu Micheal Okoye, popularly known as “Bus-Stop.”
The 25-year-old suspect was apprehended on 7th July 2025 in connection with a string of violent crimes that rocked Oko community in Orumba North Local Government Area early last month.
The incident, which left two people dead, two others abducted, and several injured, sent shockwaves across the state.
The victims were reportedly seized around Total Junction and Tipper Junction in Oko and only regained their freedom after ransom payments.
According to the Anambra State Police Command, the suspect, during interrogation, confessed to being an active member of the dreaded Aye Confraternity and currently holds a leadership position within the cult as a “Lord.”
He admitted to robbing a victim at gunpoint on 22nd May 2025 and disclosed chilling details about the gang’s operations, including plans for a rival cult attack and initiation ceremony scheduled for the very day of his arrest.
The RRS operatives recovered an automatic pump-action gun and two mobile phones from the suspect at the time of arrest, providing crucial evidence to aid ongoing investigations.
Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the arrest, said efforts are already underway to track down and apprehend the remaining members of the gang.
He reassured the public of the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and restoring peace across the state.
Further updates are expected as investigations continue.
