NPF, CLEEN Foundation Launch Second Phase Of PRO Training On Behavioural Change, GBV Prevention

The Nigeria Police Force has kicked off the second phase of a high-impact training programme for Police Public Relations Officers (PPROs), in collaboration with the CLEEN Foundation, focusing on Social and Behavioural Change Communication (SBCC) and strategies to prevent Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

The training, which runs from July 8 to 10, 2025, is taking place in Ikeja, Lagos, following the successful first phase held in Kaduna from June 24 to 26.

Declaring the training open on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Oluhundare Jimoh Moshood, highlighted the importance of strategic communication in bridging the gap between law enforcement and the public.

According to the IGP, the training is both timely and essential, especially in an era where misinformation spreads rapidly and trust in public institutions must be earned through empathy and transparency.

He stressed that PPROs must be equipped not just with operational knowledge, but also with refined communication skills to build public confidence and promote behavioural change.

The Lagos training brings together PPROs from the southern region and delves into key areas such as audience analysis, persuasive messaging, digital media use, and community engagement.

The IGP reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to citizen-focused policing through continuous capacity building, inter-agency collaboration, and improved public engagement.
