NAF @ 61: Air Force Unveils Life-Saving Medical Centres, New Infrastructure In Kano
In celebration of its 61st anniversary, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has unveiled several life-changing projects at the NAF Base in Kano, aimed at boosting operational efficiency and welfare of personnel.
Among the commissioned facilities were a state-of-the-art Trauma Centre, a modern Eye Centre, two blocks of Officers’ Accommodation, and a new Office Complex for the Military Airport Commandant all part of a bold push to strengthen the force’s health and operational systems.
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, led the inauguration, dedicating the Trauma Centre to former Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Mohammed Dikko Umar (Rtd), describing it as “a beacon of hope and a tribute to heroes whose service continues to inspire.”
He emphasised that the new medical centres would offer rapid and quality care to wounded troops and nearby civilians, with the Eye Centre playing a vital role in preventing vision impairment.
On tackling accommodation issues head-on, Air Marshal Abubakar said the newly completed officers’ blocks would drastically improve living standards, while the Airport Commandant’s Office would enhance air defence coordination and VIP protocol management at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.
The Air Chief applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his unwavering support, and thanked the Defence Ministers, Kano State Government, traditional leaders, and host communities for their collaboration.
He urged NAF personnel to take pride in the new facilities, uphold integrity, and remain committed to excellence.
