FG Reaffirms Push to Modernise Public Broadcasting, Eyes Global Partnerships
The Federal Government has restated its resolve to revolutionise Nigeria’s public broadcasting sector through modernisation and strategic global partnerships.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this known at the sixth edition of the 2025 Ministerial Press Briefing Series in Abuja.
Fresh from the National Association of Broadcasters Conference in Las Vegas, the Minister highlighted key international engagements aimed at boosting Nigeria’s media and broadcasting infrastructure.
“The Tinubu administration is fully committed to transforming our media landscape to meet global standards,” Idris said, noting efforts to enhance technical capacity and embrace innovation.
He also revealed plans to establish a Media and Information Literacy Institute in Abuja, in collaboration with UNESCO, following discussions at the Nigerian Business Forum in Paris.
The institute is expected to serve as a hub for media professionalism and digital resilience.
The briefing also featured the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, who outlined reforms in the power sector as part of the administration’s broader industrialisation agenda.
The Ministerial Briefing Series, along with upcoming Town Hall Meetings, is part of the government’s strategy to deepen citizen engagement and promote transparency.
