For decades, Udobo, a once thriving agricultural hub, struggled under the weight of neglect and climate change.

Farmers watched helplessly as their lands, once fertile and abundant, fell victim to floods and dwindling state support. But now, a glimmer of hope has emerged; the Tinubu food security initiative.

At a community engagement in Bauchi State, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to boosting food security while safeguarding land rights.

Addressing farmers and pastoralists, Tuggar assured them that the Federal Government’s strategy prioritises rural empowerment, climate-resilient farming, and technological innovation.

“This land fed nations. We aim to revive that legacy without displacing those who till it,” Tuggar declared, allaying fears of land grabbing.

He announced plans to optimise water access in Udobo’s fadama wetlands, with support from the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).

In addition, ECOWAS-backed funds, secured through his diplomatic efforts, will help build resilient infrastructure to combat devastating floods.

Some local voices echoed the significance of these interventions. Hajiya Aisha, a beneficiary of government aid, expressed her gratitude:

“For years, we felt abandoned. But now, with Tuggar’s support and the fertilisers he provided, our farms stand a better chance this rainy season.”

A youth leader Musa Adamu Udubo, stressed the need to empower young farmers to curb urban migration. “Sustainable development must include us,” he urged.

Ambassador Tuggar reinforced Tinubu’s vision, emphasising that economic reforms, though painful, will lead to lasting progress.

“Food security is national security. Udobo’s revival symbolises our resolve: a Nigeria where no farmer fears progress,” he concluded, earning resounding applause from the villagers.
