A modern air force is built not just on firepower but on strategic infrastructure and the well-being of its personnel.
Based on recognition of this, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) commitment to operational excellence, international collaboration, and personnel welfare by commissioning two major infrastructure projects in Lagos.
Speaking at the event, the CAS emphasised Lagos’ strategic importance as home to key NAF units, including the Logistics Command and the 301 Heavy Airlift Group.
He highlighted Nigeria’s growing role in global military aviation, with Lagos set to host the 4th African Air Forces Forum in May 2025 and the country’s first-ever international air show in December 2025.
The newly commissioned officers’ accommodation in Ikeja GRA—featuring six two-bedroom and six three-bedroom flats—as well as the Non-Commissioned Officers’ (NCO) Mess, which includes modern living and recreational facilities is a demonstration that personnel welfare remains a priority beyond airpower.
These projects, the CAS noted, are part of the broader NAF infrastructure drive, with over 340 projects initiated since 2024, 195 completed, and 145 ongoing.
Air Marshal Abubakar expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support and pledged that NAF would remain committed to the administration’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda.
He urged personnel to maintain the new facilities and uphold professionalism in their service to the nation.
