Tuggar Calls For Inclusive Global Reforms At G20 Meeting In South Africa

In an era of widening economic disparity and persistent global conflicts, Nigeria has once again reinforced its call for a fairer and more inclusive world order.
At the ongoing G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Johannesburg, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, made a compelling case for urgent reforms in global governance, economic equity, and security cooperation.
Tuggar, who congratulated South Africa on assuming the G20 Presidency, aligned Nigeria’s support with key priorities such as disaster resilience, debt sustainability, and a just energy transition.
He however, urged world leaders to address structural injustices that hinder the progress of developing nations.
With conflicts and humanitarian crises escalating worldwide, Tuggar advocated for stronger peace initiatives led by African nations, alongside a holistic approach to combating terrorism one that prioritises education, healthcare, and job creation.
He also stressed the importance of tax justice, highlighting how capital flight and illicit financial flows drain Africa’s resources and called for stricter global financial regulations.
The Minister, affirmed that Nigeria is committed to working with global partners to build a world where economic opportunity, security, and sustainable development are not the privilege of a few but the right of all.
