Tragedy In Zamfara: CSN Mourns Loss Of 17 Young Lives At Islamic School

Following a devastating fire that tore through an Islamic school in Kauran Namoda, Zamfara State, leaving a nation in mourning as 17 children lost their lives and several others suffered injuries.
The Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) has expressed deep sorrow over the incident, extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and the entire Islamic community.
In a press release, jointly signed by the Secretary General, CSN, Very Rev. Fr. Michael Banjo, and the Director, Social Communications, CSN, Very Rev. Fr. Michael Umoh, CSN emphasised the urgent need for improved safety measures across Nigeria, lamenting the recurring loss of lives due to preventable tragedies.
They urged the government to enforce stringent fire safety standards in schools and other public spaces to prevent future disasters.
While prayers go out for the swift recovery of the injured, the tragedy serves as a painful reminder of the need to prioritise human life above all else hence CSN calls for immediate action to ensure that such heartbreak never happens again.
