Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, backed by an air component, in a decisive move against terrorists carried out a high-impact clearance operation on January 17, 2025.

The mission targeted terrorist hideouts along the Shinkafi, Kagara, Fakai, Moriki, Maiwa, and Chindo axis, resulting in significant casualties among the terrorists.

A statement by the Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, say among the dead was the son of notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji, who narrowly escaped, abandoning his son and fighters in a cowardly retreat.

The troops’ firepower not only neutralised the terrorists but also dismantled their logistics hub and rescued several hostages held captive by Turji’s group.

The statement noted that in a related operation, troops stormed Idi Mallam’s camp in the Zango Kagara Forest, killing three terrorists and arresting three suspected collaborators.

They recovered two machine guns, one AK-47 rifle with 11 rounds of ammunition, and rescued 61 rustled cattle and 44 sheep.

The statement emphasised that the military remains resolute in its mission to protect Nigerians, sustaining pressure on terrorists to ensure peace and security across the nation.
