Defence Headquarters says Nigerian Armed Forces have stepped up their operations against insurgents and terrorists nationwide, achieving major successes.
Through coordinated air strikes and ground assaults, they have dismantled terrorist strongholds and neutralised significant threats across regions.
On November 6, the air component of Operation HADIN KAI launched targeted strikes on terrorist hideouts in Borno State, specifically in KWALLARAM and ARAINNA CIKI islands.
These strikes resulted in over 70 militants being neutralised at KWALLARAM, with several more taken down in ARAINNA CIKI.
Throughout the week, troops eliminated 169 insurgents, arrested 641 suspects, including 40 individuals involved in oil theft, and rescued 181 kidnapped hostages.
In a significant victory in the South-South region, troops foiled oil theft operations worth over N1.4 billion.
Weapon seizures were extensive, with 192 assorted firearms and 2,970 rounds of ammunition recovered, ranging from AK47s to locally-made pistols.
Other items, including communication radios, vehicles, motorcycles, mobile phones, and cash, were also seized.
In the Niger Delta, troops dismantled illegal oil refineries, destroying 83 sites and recovering over 900,000 liters of stolen crude oil. Additional equipment used in illicit refining was also destroyed.
These operations have weakened terrorist ranks, leading ISWAP to resort to social media for recruitment.
However, the Armed Forces remain resolute in their mission, vowing to sustain the pressure until all threats are eliminated.
The Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, praised the troops’ commitment and reassured the nation that the military’s offensive will continue relentlessly against insurgents and terrorists without fail.
