Intrigues As APC Adds New Members To Its NWC Despite Protest

The National Working Committee, NWC, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, led by its chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, has inducted into its ranks six fresh members this is in spite protests from the party’s chapters in Abia, Cross River and Kogi states.
Speaking after the inauguration ceremony on Friday in Abuja, the national chairman of the party, Ganduje recalled the party’s decision to entrust the responsibility of conducting national elections to the NWC during a previous National Executive Committee NEC, meeting.
He said, consultations with stakeholders both within and outside the party played a pivotal role in shaping the party’s strategy as individuals of significant influence were engaged in discussions to bolster and expand the party’s reach.
The national chairman while acknowledging the concerns raised by Governor Bello of Kogi State, expressed the party’s intent to accommodate those individuals who did not secure positions in the protesting states, as a means of addressing concerns and ensuring amicable resolution of grievances.
According to him, they have resolved that every Wednesday, will be for weekly NWC meeting as it is very important that the party as an institution will be active throughout the year and not just during election periods and the party will have operational and functional offices from the wards, LGs, States, Zonal and national offices.
He disclosed that the party will soon launch the National Campaign Councils for the three states – Imo, Bayelsa and Kogi- going into elections this year adding that the councils will be inaugurated in the various state capitals instead of Abuja so that they can connect with the various stakeholders.
The newly inducted members include Ali Bukar Dalori (Borno State), assuming the position of Deputy National Chairman, North; Garba Datti Muhammad (Kaduna State), as National Vice Chairman, North West; Prof. Abdul Karim Abubakar Kana (Nasarawa State), National Legal Adviser; Donatus Nwankpa (Abia State), National Welfare Secretary; Mary Alile Idele, PhD (Edo State), is now the National Woman Leader; and Duro Meseko (Kogi State), becomes the Deputy National Publicity Secretary.
Nomination of Ikani Shuaibu Okolo, who was originally slated for the position of North Central Zonal Organizing Secretary, was set aside in a bid to placate Governor Yahaya Bello, whose nominee, Ismail Yahaya, for the post of Deputy National Publicity Secretary, was withdrawn.
