Imo Union UK elections: Oparaugo emerges President for another 2yrs

– As Exco visits Iwuanyanwu, wants Kanu released

In a recently conducted free, fair and credible elections by the Imo State Union United Kingdom and Ireland, High Chief Chima Oparaugo was re-elected unopposed as the President General for another two years.
The elections which held in London United Kingdom on the 21st day of July 2023 saw the emergence of High Chief Chima Oparaugo and other executives and they will serve for another term of two years according to their constitution.
The President General, High Chief Oparaugo in his address thanked the Union for re-electing him unopposed to serve for the next two years.
The President in his first tenure recorded some uncommon achievements which made him return unopposed for the second term. According to him, he carried out one of the famous and attractive event of the year; Imo Day / Iri ji (new yam festival), which was a great success. He also introduced the first ever popular Igbo lessons for Imo young children in the UK.
“We have embraced the spirit of unity, love and brotherhood among all members of Imo state Union and beyond, amongst others” he stated.
Other executives re-elected include Nze Frank Ahanihi Vice-president, Chief Chika Nwokorie General Secretary, High Chief Ekwueme Nwokeji Political Secretary, Engr Uche Amaechi Publicity Secretary, Mazi Nick Ukaegbu -Social Secretary, Mazi Saviour Kabaa – Assistant Social Secretary, Chief Casmir Utonwanne – Welfare Secretary, Elder Johnny Ukwujiagu – Provost, Solicitor Lenny Ejiofor – Legal Secretary, Chief Lucky Ajunwa – Vice Secretary, Mr Elias Okolie – Financial Secretary, Lolo Mrs Perpetua Aguguo – Assistant Financial Secretary, Lolo Chinyere Alaneme – Treasurer.
In a related development, the Imo State tate Union delegation led by its President, High Chief Chima Oparaugo visited the President General of Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu CFR Ahaejiagamba Ndi-Igbo.
The delegates urged Chief Iwuanyanwu to intensify efforts and mount pressure on the federal government to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu so as to reduce insecurity in the South East
caused by the so-called sit at home . They urged him to use his influence and seek for better leadership from the Imo state government to enhance more viable and productive environment for business, leisure, commerce and industry.
Responding, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu pledged his resolve for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and promote a reduction in Insecurity and better governance in the South East and Imo State in particular.
Other delegates were Nze Frank Ahanihi vice president, Engr Uche Amaechi publicity secretary, Pastor John Umunna former political secretary, and two former presidents Chief Emmanuel Ahanonu and Nze Onyeka Uzoukwu.
