The Department of State Service (DSS), has again, alerted the public of plans to violently disrupt peace in the country, saying it will not tolerate a situation where persons or groups take laws into their hands and champion anarchy.
A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Department Of State Services, National Headquarters Abuja, Dr. Peter Afunanya, warned those desperate to cause a breakdown of law and order to desist from that.
The statement recalled that the Service had earlier advised political players to abide by the rules of engagement and should approach the courts for redress, if and where there are suspicions of infractions on extant electoral laws.
It also acknowledged that some aggrieved politicians are already taking advantage of the legal process which the statement notes is, the beauty of democracy.
According to the statement, the Service strongly believes that approaching the courts for redress enhances peace and security hence all should cherish it.
The DSS further warned those peddling fake news, hate speech and all forms of false narratives as the basis to igniting violence or pit the people against the present or incoming administrations, at the Federal, State and Parliamentary levels, to stop forthwith.
The statement noted that those inciting violence have nothing to gain but doing so will not only consume them but the innocent as well.
It said that the Service will continue to take necessary measures to checkmate all those who do not wish the country well so as to ensure that conducive environment is provided for citizens and residents to pursue their legitimate businesses.
