Nigeria Military Seeks Citizens Support As It Intensifies Onslaught Against Oil Sabotage

The Directorate of Defence Operations has asked Nigerians to assist troops in their responsibility of safeguarding the nation by continuing to provide creditable information on criminals in their locality.

Speaking at its Bi-weekly press briefing on the operational activities of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other Security agencies from the various operational theatres in the six geopolitical zones of the country, the Director Defence Media, Major General Bernard Oyeuko, appreciated the citizenry for the support given to the Armed Forces and security agencies in the conduct of their operations while also urging them not to relent so as to return peace to the country.

Major General Oyeuko, who highlighted activities of the Nigeria Armed Forces and other security agencies from 28 July to 11 August 2022, disclosed troops of Operation DELTA SAFE has sustained offensive posture to deny criminals space for their illegal operation in Bayelsa, Delta and Rivers States.

He noted that In the process several illegal oil refining sites were discovered and destroyed; including 37, 68 dugout pits, 188 storage tanks, 33 wooden boats, 16 pumping machines, a generator, a vehicle, 175 cooking ovens and 23 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

According to him, troops, also, recovered three million seven hundred and fifty thousand (3,750,000) litres of crude oil and two million and nineteen thousand (2,019,000) litres of Automotive Gas Oil, arrested ten suspected pipeline vandals and two high profile sea pirates known as Fagha Golden (aka) fine boy at Nonwa village in Tai Local Government Area and Victor Elkanah (aka) Victor Padi at Pharzy Spring Diagnostic and Wellness Hospital, One-Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.

He said the large quantity of crude and Automotive Gas Oil recovered and number of arrested crude oil thieves shows the unrelenting efforts by the troops of Operation DELTA SAFE.

Meanwhile, it has been announced that Major General Musa Danmadami, will replace Major General Oyeuko as the new Director Defence Media.

Addressing journalists at the briefing, Major General Danmadami, reminded them that Nigeria is a project which everyone has a stake in adding that it is only synergy that will make it a success for even the generation yet unborn and solicited support of the media to make his job easier.
