Troops Strike Terrorists, Kill 15 In Borno Air Raid

Residents around Pulka in Borno State have been spared another potential threat after Nigerian troops killed 15 terrorists in a precision air strike targeting suspected insurgent movements in the area.

The operation, conducted at about 11.50 pm on Friday, 23 October, north-west of Pulka in Gwoza Local Government Area, followed intelligence reports and confirmed sightings of terrorist movements, the military has said.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, said ground troops moved in after the air strike to exploit the area and consolidate the gains.

The operation forms part of the military’s sustained offensive against terrorist groups operating in the North-East, where insurgency has disrupted lives, displaced communities and undermined economic activities for years.

According to the statement, the latest strike demonstrates the military’s continued reliance on intelligence gathering, precision targeting and coordinated air and ground operations to disrupt terrorist movements and weaken their operational capabilities.

The Theatre Command said troops would maintain pressure on insurgents to deny them freedom of action and improve security across the region.

It reaffirmed its commitment to protecting civilians and creating conditions for the return of normal life and economic activities in affected communities.

The military also urged residents to support ongoing operations by providing timely and credible information about suspicious movements and activities to security agencies.

It stressed that cooperation between troops and local communities remained critical to sustaining operational gains and achieving lasting peace in the North-East.
