Four people have regained their freedom after troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA rescued them in separate operations in Zamfara and Kebbi states, renewing hope for families affected by kidnapping in Nigeria’s North-West.

The victims were rescued on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, during intelligence-led operations in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State and between Bena and Sawade in Kebbi State.

In Zamfara, troops of Sector 2 responded to reports of a terrorist incident on a farmland across a river in Binoni Marafa, Maru LGA.

The operation led to the rescue of Mansur Shehu, 25, and Kadijat Haruna, 49.

In Kebbi, troops launched a search-and-rescue operation following reports of suspected terrorists moving with kidnapped victims from Dupindu Village in Kanya District, Danko-Wasagu LGA.

The operation resulted in the rescue of Jimoh Su-Arege, 35, and Kalahe Danjuma, 41. The two victims were subsequently handed over to the Seriki of Dipindu.

The military said troops were sustaining patrols and surveillance across affected communities to strengthen security, disrupt terrorist activities and prevent criminal groups from operating freely.

The rescues form part of Operation FANSAN YAMMA’s ongoing efforts to free kidnapped victims and curb terrorism across Zamfara and Kebbi states.
