President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has hailed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public service, describing the milestone as a rare achievement in a democratic system and reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with India.
In a congratulatory message issued by the State House, Tinubu praised Modi’s development-focused leadership, citing advances in infrastructure, digital public services, financial inclusion and innovation as key drivers of India’s economic transformation.
The Nigerian President also described Nigeria and India as longstanding partners and influential voices of the Global South, saying their shared commitment to a fairer and more representative international order provided a strong basis for deeper cooperation.
Tinubu recalled Modi’s State Visit to Abuja in November 2024, during which Nigeria conferred on him the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger.
He said the visit further strengthened bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, energy, defence and security, healthcare, education and technology.
Modi first assumed public office in 2001 as Chief Minister of Gujarat before becoming India’s Prime Minister in 2014.
Tinubu wished the Indian leader good health, strength and continued success, conveying his congratulations on behalf of the Nigerian government and people as well as in his personal capacity.
