Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled a bandit attack on travellers in Zamfara State, rescuing three wounded civilians and recovering 117 suspected rustled cattle and a stolen Toyota Camry.

The troops responded to a distress call over an attack along the Dampo-Rumba Road in Bakura Local Government Area, engaging the assailants and forcing them to retreat into the bush.

Three wounded travellers abandoned by the attackers were rescued, given first aid and evacuated for further medical treatment. Troops subsequently secured the route and intensified patrols in the area.

In a separate operation around Magami, troops intercepted five trucks allegedly conveying rustled livestock towards Gusau.

A search recovered 117 cows, two donkeys, one goat and five cow skins.

The livestock were handed over to the Zamfara State Committee on the Recovery of Rustled Animals for identification and possible return to their owners.

Troops also intercepted a stolen Toyota Camry in Tsafe Local Government Area. The driver reportedly ignored a stop signal and fled before abandoning the vehicle and escaping on foot.

The military said the operations form part of ongoing clearance efforts and aggressive patrols aimed at disrupting criminal activities across vulnerable areas of Zamfara State.
