Troops Raid Katsina Terrorist Hideout, Recover Four Motorcycles
A dawn assault on a suspected terrorist hideout in Katsina State has disrupted the group’s operations, with troops killing one suspected terrorist and recovering four motorcycles and other items.
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA carried out the operation on Friday, 4 September, in the Yantumaki Forest area of Dan Musa Local Government Area, following credible intelligence on terrorist activity.
According to the military, troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force North West, engaged the terrorists with sustained firepower, forcing them to abandon their positions and flee into the surrounding bushes.
A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of four motorcycles, a mobile phone and five empty intravenous drip containers.
The military said the drip containers could have been used to treat wounded terrorists, suggesting the group may have been caring for casualties from previous encounters with security forces.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist networks, restrict their movement and degrade their operational capabilities across the North-West.
The theatre command has urged residents to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to security agencies to support efforts to locate and dismantle terrorist groups operating in the region.
