Troops Foil Abductions, Rescue Civilians, Defuse IED In Zamfara
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have foiled separate abduction attempts in Zamfara State, rescuing civilians and neutralising a terrorist-planted Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
Along the Gurusu–Anka Road on 17 August, troops of Sector 2 pursued terrorists who had attempted to abduct civilians, forcing them to abandon seven victims, four women and three children, and flee.
In Tsafe Local Government Area, troops also responded to an attack on motorists around Magazu Village, engaging the terrorists and forcing them to retreat into nearby bushes.
Some of the rescued victims sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to a medical facility for treatment.
Earlier, troops discovered an IED planted by terrorists along the Gurusu-Gwashi Road in Bukkuyum LGA.
The area was secured while an Explosive Ordnance Disposal team safely neutralised the device, preventing possible casualties among troops and motorists.
The Theatre Command said troops would continue operations against terrorist elements across the Joint Operations Area and urged residents to report suspicious activities promptly to security forces.
