Chidoka: Only Way To Rig 2027 Election Is Not To Hold It
Former Aviation Minister Osita Chidoka says Nigeria’s 2027 general election will be difficult to rig if INEC maintains the level of transparency and technology deployment witnessed during the recent Osun governorship election.
Chidoka, Chancellor of the Athena Centre, said the only way the 2027 election could be rigged under such a process would be for it not to be conducted.
“The only way to rig the election in 2027 is not to conduct it,” he said on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
He said election-monitoring groups, including Athena Centre, YIAGA Africa and Dataphyte, were able to independently collate results from polling units and wards during the Osun election.
Chidoka praised INEC’s use of the IReV platform and said artificial intelligence also helped monitoring groups aggregate results faster.
He urged political leaders to abandon electoral manipulation, arguing that Nigerians should no longer depend on courts to determine who won elections.
According to him, the priority should be ensuring that the votes cast by Nigerians are accurately reflected in the final results.
