Police Foil Kidnap Attempts, Rescue Victims As Nationwide Crackdown Intensifies
Nigeria Police operatives have recorded fresh breakthroughs in the fight against kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes, rescuing victims, arresting suspects and recovering stolen property in coordinated operations across several states.
Within the last 24 hours, police foiled separate kidnap attempts in Imo and Ondo states, rescuing eight victims unharmed. In Imo, officers also recovered two vehicles abandoned by fleeing kidnappers after a gun battle.
The nationwide operations also led to the arrest of a suspect linked to the theft of government property worth about ₦500 million in Bayelsa, while in Katsina, police disrupted a cattle rustling operation and arrested a suspected supplier of illicit drugs to bandits, recovering 500 tablets of suspected narcotics.
Further successes included the arrest of a homicide suspect in Gombe, the recovery of an abandoned Beretta pistol, the arrest of three fertiliser theft suspects in Ekiti, the recovery of rustled cattle in Kano, and the arrest of suspected bandits’ informants, arms suspects and other criminal elements in Sokoto and Akwa Ibom.
Meanwhile, rescue operations and investigations remain active in Bauchi, Niger, Kwara, Kebbi, Nasarawa and Ogun states as police continue efforts to rescue kidnapped victims, track fleeing suspects and dismantle criminal networks.
