Police Track Fleeing Driver To Abuja, Recover Employer’s Stolen Car
A driver’s attempt to disappear with his employer’s car ended in Abuja after detectives tracked him across state lines and recovered the stolen vehicle.
The Ondo State Police Command said the 40-year-old suspect, Adesola Ogunrotifa, allegedly drove away with his employer’s Hyundai saloon car after dropping her off for a church service in Akure on Sunday, 5 July 2026.
The vehicle owner reported the incident to the police, prompting detectives from B-Division, Akure, to launch an intelligence-led investigation.
Police subsequently tracked the suspect to Abuja, where he was arrested and the vehicle recovered intact.
The suspect has since been charged to court.
Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, commended the investigating officers for the swift operation and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to pursuing criminal suspects within and outside the state.
