NOTAP, NUJ Join Forces To Turn Nigerian Research Into Jobs, Revenue
Nigeria is stepping up efforts to ensure groundbreaking research no longer gathers dust on shelves but is transformed into products, businesses and jobs that can drive economic growth.
The National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) has announced plans to commercialise research findings through strategic partnerships linking innovators with investors and industry players.
Director-General, Dr Obiageli Amadiobi, disclosed this while receiving the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
She revealed that NOTAP’s National Technology and Innovation Summit, scheduled for October 7–8 in Lagos, will connect researchers, manufacturers, financial institutions and investors to accelerate the commercialisation of Nigerian innovations.
The agency is also expanding technology transfer, AI training and youth skills development programmes to boost local capacity and national revenue.
NUJ FCT Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, pledged the Council’s support in promoting indigenous innovation, technology policies and intellectual property awareness, stressing that the media has a vital role in helping Nigerians understand and embrace home-grown innovations.
