Yobe CP Rallies Communities, Traditional Rulers To Strengthen Fight Against Crime
Building stronger partnerships with traditional rulers, local authorities and communities has emerged as a key strategy in Yobe State’s efforts to improve security and curb crime.
The Commissioner of Police in Yobe State, CP Usman Kanfani Jibrin, has called for stronger collaboration between security agencies, traditional institutions and residents to enhance public safety across the state.
During an operational tour of Potiskum Area Command, the police chief paid courtesy visits to the Emir of Fune, Alhaji Dr. Saleh Idris Ibn Usman, and the Chairman of Potiskum Local Government, Hon. Salisu Muktari, seeking their continued support in sustaining peace and security.
At a stakeholders’ meeting involving community leaders and representatives from Potiskum, Yindiski, Nangere, Fika and Damagum divisions, the CP urged residents to provide timely and credible intelligence to security agencies.
He also appealed to leaders of farmers, herders and other groups to promote peaceful coexistence and discourage actions capable of disrupting public order.
CP Kanfani warned that anyone found with dangerous weapons without lawful justification would face prosecution and directed police personnel to remain proactive, professional and respectful of human rights in the discharge of their duties.
The visit also saw the Rescue and Less Privilege Support Foundation honour the police commissioner with an award of excellence for his commitment to security and community service.
