Nigeria Strengthens Multilateral Diplomacy As Ambassador Presents Credentials To UNECA
Nigeria has reinforced its diplomatic engagement with Africa’s foremost economic institution following the formal presentation of credentials by its new Permanent Representative to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).
The Ambassador of Nigeria to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union and UNECA, Ambassador Nasir Aminu, has presented his Letters of Commission to the Executive Secretary of UNECA, Claver Gatete, marking the official commencement of his diplomatic engagement with the Commission.
The presentation of the Letters of Commission signifies Nigeria’s renewed commitment to deepening collaboration with UNECA on regional economic integration, sustainable development, trade, industrialisation and other strategic priorities aimed at accelerating Africa’s growth.
Ambassador Aminu is expected to represent Nigeria’s interests at UNECA while strengthening partnerships that support the country’s development agenda and Africa’s broader aspirations under the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
UNECA, one of the United Nations’ five regional commissions, plays a pivotal role in supporting African governments with policy research, economic planning and initiatives that promote inclusive and sustainable development across the continent.
