NCDMB, Renaissance Train 60 Nigerians For Oil And Gas Careers
For 60 young Nigerians, a year of technical training could open doors to careers in an industry that demands specialised skills and practical experience.
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited have launched a 12-month programme to prepare them for opportunities in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
The training, launched at Nigeria Machine Tools Limited in Osogbo, Osun State, will equip 33 graduates and 27 vocational trainees with skills in engineering design, machining, computer-aided design and manufacturing, electrical and mechanical maintenance, programming and document control.
The programme combines six months of classroom instruction with six months of supervised on-the-job training in reputable companies.
Participants are expected to earn internationally recognised certifications upon completion.
Speaking at the launch, NCDMB Director of Capacity Building, Engr. Abayomi Bamidele, represented by Assistant Manager, Human Capacity Development, Mr Tare Bufazi, said the initiative was designed to address technical manpower shortages and expand Nigerians’ participation across the oil and gas value chain.
He stressed that building local expertise was essential to strengthening Nigerian content, creating opportunities and advancing industrialisation.
Renaissance Africa Energy’s Richard Oyiborhor reaffirmed the company’s commitment to developing Nigerian talent, while Seflam SGL and Nigeria Machine Tools also highlighted the importance of the partnership in building the country’s technical workforce.
The initiative is linked to Renaissance Africa Energy’s EPU Phase 2 Gas Development Project under the Nigerian Content Human Capacity Development Training Programme.
