Nigeria has taken another step towards strengthening its diplomatic and economic partnership with Qatar following the formal presentation of credentials by its newly appointed ambassador.

The Ambassador of Nigeria to the State of Qatar, Mahmud Yakubu, on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, presented copies of his Letters of Credence to Sultan bin Saad Al-Marikhi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar.

The presentation marks the official commencement of Ambassador Yakubu’s diplomatic assignment and paves the way for deeper bilateral engagement between Nigeria and Qatar in key areas including trade, investment, energy, aviation, agriculture and cultural exchange.

The ceremony reflects the commitment of both countries to strengthening long-standing relations and expanding cooperation for mutual economic growth and regional stability.

Ambassador Yakubu is expected to work closely with Qatari authorities to advance Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives, promote investment opportunities and enhance collaboration across sectors of shared interest.
