Archbishop Kawas Urges Christians To Embrace Humility And Live To Please God

Christians have been urged to re-dedicate their lives to serving God with humility and sincerity, as true fulfilment comes only from living to please Him.

Delivering a sermon in Abuja, Archbishop Professor Leonard Kawas of World Harvest Ministries said believers were created to give God pleasure, not to live for self-gratification.

“We are created to give God pleasure, and if you refuse, God will give you pressure,” he declared, citing the story of King Nebuchadnezzar who was humbled until he acknowledged God’s supremacy.

Referencing Revelation 4:11, Archbishop Kawas reminded the congregation that all creation exists for God’s pleasure and urged Christians to make pleasing Him their life’s ultimate purpose.

Drawing from Psalm 149:4, he noted that “meekness is not weakness but strength rewarded by God,” stressing that humility, prayer, and repentance remain the pathway to divine favour.

Quoting 2 Chronicles 7:14, he called on believers to humble themselves, pray, seek God’s face, and turn from wickedness to experience healing and restoration.

He also warned against hypocrisy and living double lives, referencing Jeremiah 5:26 and 1 Samuel 19:9–10 to caution against spiritual complacency and manipulation.

“After God has created you, if you cannot give Him pleasure, your creation is wasted,” he said solemnly.

The service also featured the joyful dedication of Princess Fiona Kawas and Janice Margaret Liga.
