The reward for hard work they say is more work but for the immediate past President and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Nigerian Society of Substance Use Prevention and Treatment Professionals, ISSUP, Dr Martin Agwogie, the story is different.
For him, the recognition of his leadership at the ISSUP 2026 conference and AGM in Abuja, is a tribute to the family that stood behind him throughout his tenure.
The former ISSUP president described his time in office as successful, dedicating the award presented in recognition of this service to his wife, children and other supporters who helped him navigate the demands of leadership and frequent travels.
Agwogie expressed particular gratitude to his family, acknowledging their sacrifices and support throughout his tenure.
He also singled out his elder brother, Emmanuel Agwogie, for special appreciation.
Beyond his family, Agwogie commended the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for introducing innovations aimed at strengthening drug control in Nigeria.
He said the award belonged not only to him but also to those who supported his leadership journey from the beginning.
Earlier, the National President of ISSUP, Dr Olajumoke Koyejo, had said Dr Agwogie laid the solid foundation upon which the association stands today.
