Nigeria Marks First-Ever Reputation Day, Calls For National Rebirth Through Integrity, Values
Nigeria has officially marked its first Nigeria Reputation Day, a landmark initiative dedicated to rebuilding the nation’s image and reinforcing integrity as a cornerstone of progress.
The commemoration, led by the Nigeria Reputation Management Group (NRMG), held on Wednesday, 15 October 2025, is themed “Better Reputation, Better Nigeria.”
It seeks to remind citizens that the country’s global image is shaped not merely by policies but by the everyday actions, honesty, and values of its people.
Quoting literary icon Chinua Achebe, the NRMG Chairman, Yomi Badejo-Okusanya (fnipr), said: “A people’s greatness is measured not by wealth, but by the values they uphold.”
He stressed that rebuilding Nigeria’s reputation must begin with individual responsibility, transparency, and a renewed commitment to ethical living.
Badejo-Okusanya unveiled five pillars for restoring Nigeria’s reputation, Consistency, Transparency, Responsibility, Respect, and Excellence, and urged Nigerians at home and abroad to take up the challenge through the movement #BetterReputationBetterNigeria.
He further highlighted what he termed “The M-Factor, Nigeria’s Cultural Power Grid,” identifying Music, Movies, Media, Minds, and Fashion as the five engines of Nigeria’s soft power capable of redefining the nation’s image globally when anchored on integrity and purpose.
“Let our music carry messages of dignity as much as rhythm; our films uplift as much as they entertain; and our media amplify truth, not toxicity,” he said, adding that culture and character must move in the same direction for Nigeria to command global respect.
From now on, Nigeria Reputation Day will be celebrated annually on 15 October as a reminder that integrity and reputation remain the foundations of national progress.
