Military Identifies Top ISWAP Leaders, Declares Governor Most Wanted
A major intelligence breakthrough by the Nigerian military has exposed the identities of senior ISWAP/ISIS commanders operating around the Lake Chad Basin, signalling intensified efforts to dismantle the terrorist group’s leadership.
Operation HADIN KAI said the breakthrough followed recent offensive operations in northern Borno, during which troops recovered technical devices, including a camcorder used by the insurgents to film propaganda and operational activities.
According to the military, forensic analysis of the recovered materials led to the identification of key terrorist figures operating within the Mangari-Metele-Dogon Chukun axis in Abadam and Kukawa Local Government Areas.
Among those identified are Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, described as the ISWAP Governor (Wali), his deputy and Amirul Jaish, Muhammad Jidda, also known as “The One-Handed Man”, and Hamad Abu Hanifa, the group’s Amirul-Fiya.
Operation HADIN KAI described Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa as the most wanted terrorist leader in the Lake Chad Basin and announced a substantial financial reward for credible information leading to his arrest.
It assured the public that the identities of informants would be protected.
The military urged residents to support ongoing counter-terrorism operations by reporting useful information through security agencies or via 0708 498 8859, while warning citizens not to confront or attempt to arrest the suspects.
