ECOWAS Commission Backs Innoson In Advocacy For Regional Automotive Growth
The ECOWAS Commission has lauded Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) for its pioneering role in driving local production and regional integration, following a follow-up mission to the company’s assembly plant in Anambra State, Nigeria.
The visit, conducted in collaboration with Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, assessed progress in implementing the National Automotive Industry Development Plan.
Delegates from ECOWAS, the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), and IVM toured the assembly lines, compressed natural gas (CNG) facilities, and stability testing units.
Innoson unveiled its expansion plans, including the commissioning of two new plants and strengthening exports to Sierra Leone, Mali, and Ghana.
Officials from ECOWAS and the Nigerian government praised the company’s contributions to regional automotive policy, while IVM’s president reaffirmed a strong commitment to industrial growth and West African integration.
The mission marked another step in ECOWAS’s regional automotive framework, aimed at boosting manufacturing, creating jobs, and reducing import dependency across West Africa.
