Troops Kill Several Lakurawa Fighters In Sokoto Ambush, Recover Four AK-47 Rifles
Residents of Ruwan Wuri in Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State may have some relief as Nigerian Army troops intensify operations against Lakurawa terrorists threatening security in the North-West.
Troops of the 8 Division, Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), killed several fighters in an ambush at Ruwan Wuri, recovering four AK-47 rifles, six motorcycles and radio communication equipment.
The military also recovered four AK-47 magazines, ammunition and other operational items during the operation.
The seizure of motorcycles and communication equipment is expected to disrupt the group’s mobility and coordination, while the recovery of firearms could limit its capacity to sustain attacks.
The operation forms part of ongoing military efforts to dismantle terrorist networks, cut off their access to weapons and logistics, and protect vulnerable communities across Sokoto State and the wider North-West.
Residents have been urged to provide security agencies with credible, timely information to support operations against terrorist groups and help restore lasting peace.
