FANSAN YAMMA Troops Foil Terrorist Advance At Ghandi Bridge, Recover AK-47

An attempted terrorist advance on Ghandi town, Sokoto State, has been thwarted after troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle at Ghandi Bridge.

Acting on credible intelligence, troops of Sector 2 took strategic positions around the bridge on Sunday and intercepted the armed group before it could enter the community.

The terrorists came under intense military firepower and were forced to retreat in disarray, with several reportedly wounded. Some of the fleeing attackers were said to have jumped into a nearby river while attempting to escape.

A clearance operation at daybreak led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, a loaded magazine, additional ammunition and personal belongings abandoned by the terrorists.

Troops have since intensified search and mop-up operations in the area, as the military moves to prevent the fleeing attackers from regrouping.

The successful interception underscores the importance of timely intelligence in stopping armed groups before they can reach vulnerable communities.
