State Police: CCAN Urges Nigerians To Shape Reform Through Public Memoranda
As Nigeria pushes to overhaul its security architecture, the Crime Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CCAN) has called on citizens to seize the opportunity to influence the proposed state policing framework by submitting memoranda to the Presidential Working Group on the National Policing Bill.
In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Festus Fifen, and Secretary, Peter Ireh, the association described public participation as crucial to building an effective, accountable and rights-based state police system capable of addressing the country’s growing security challenges.
CCAN said the ongoing consultation offers Nigerians, legal experts, civil society organisations and security stakeholders a historic chance to help shape legislation that reflects community needs and strengthens collaboration between state police and the federal force.
The association urged contributors to submit their proposals through www.nationalpolicingbill.com, while also calling on the Presidential Working Group to ensure a transparent process in which all constructive submissions are reflected in the final bill.
