Bravery Rewarded As IGP Honours 14 Officers, Fast-Tracks Promotion Of Police Aviators
Nigeria’s fight against banditry received a morale boost on Wednesday as Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, honoured 14 officers for exceptional bravery in combat operations and approved accelerated promotions for five police aviators in recognition of outstanding service.
At the decoration ceremony, Commissioner of Police, Police Air Wing, Martin Nwogoh, said some of the honoured officers safely landed their aircraft after sustaining gunshot wounds during anti-banditry missions, describing their actions as the highest standard of courage and professionalism.
Nwogoh said the Police Air Wing has become a critical force in aerial surveillance, intelligence gathering, counter-insurgency operations, search and rescue, medical evacuation and election security, stressing that air power has significantly strengthened the Force’s operational capability against criminal groups.
Speaking on behalf of the recipients, ACP Oyewuwo Tesleem said the recognition would inspire officers to remain committed to serving Nigeria with integrity, discipline and unwavering dedication.
