DSS Security Alert Forces Youth Leaders To Suspend Planned Protest Over South Africa Xenophobia

Security concerns have forced the Forum of National Youth Leaders of All Political Parties in Nigeria (FNYLPPN) to postpone its planned warning protest against xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa, highlighting the delicate balance between civic action and public safety.

The Forum said the decision followed a security briefing by the Department of State Services (DSS), which warned that the planned demonstration could be infiltrated because other groups were also scheduled to protest in Abuja on the same day.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Hon. Comrade Eze Onyebuchi Chukwu, the Forum said it remained committed to demanding an end to attacks on Nigerians in South Africa, justice and compensation for victims, and stronger protection for Nigerians living abroad.

The group stressed that postponing the protest was not a retreat from its demands but a responsible step taken in the interest of national peace and security.

It added that a new date would be announced if the crisis persists after further consultations.
