Troops Repel Zamfara Terror Attack, Rescue Nine Abductees; Two Security Personnel Killed
Nigeria’s intensified military campaign against armed groups in the North-West continues to yield results, with troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA repelling a pre-dawn terrorist assault on a military base in Zamfara State and rescuing nine abducted civilians.
The attack occurred around 1:40 a.m. on Saturday when terrorists attempted to infiltrate the Forward Operating Base at Kasuwan Daji in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area.
Troops swiftly engaged the attackers with coordinated firepower, forcing them to retreat after suffering heavy casualties.
Reinforcements immediately pursued the fleeing terrorists, leading to the rescue of nine residents who had been abducted during the attack.
The military, however, confirmed that one Army officer and one police officer were killed in the fierce exchange, while two soldiers sustained gunshot wounds and were airlifted for treatment. They are reported to be in stable condition.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA also dismissed online claims that six security personnel died in the attack, describing the reports as false.
Military authorities said troops have secured the area and are continuing exploitation operations, reaffirming their commitment to dismantling terrorist networks and restoring lasting peace across the North-West.
