Police Rescue Five Kidnap Victims, Arrest Suspects In Nationwide Crackdown
Intelligence-led policing continues to deliver significant gains in Nigeria’s fight against violent crime, with security operations across several states leading to the rescue of kidnap victims, arrests of suspected criminals and the recovery of illegal firearms.
In its operational summary for the last 24 hours, the Nigeria Police Force said officers rescued a kidnapped victim in Akwa Ibom and arrested a suspect while attempting to collect ransom.
Four other kidnap victims were also freed in Nasarawa State, while a suspected kidnap kingpin linked to a cross-border kidnapping and armed robbery syndicate was arrested in Imo State.
The Force also recorded major breakthroughs in tackling cultism, armed robbery and other crimes, including the arrest of a suspected cult hitman in Bayelsa, a notorious cultist in Edo, a defilement suspect in Ekiti, and several armed robbery suspects in the FCT and Oyo State. Firearms, ammunition, a stolen tricycle and other exhibits were recovered during the operations.
In the Federal Capital Territory, police also restored order after an attack on Federal Road Safety Corps personnel, rescuing all affected officers, arresting a suspect and impounding two vehicles.
The police said investigations are ongoing in the various cases, with efforts intensified to apprehend fleeing suspects and recover additional weapons and stolen property.
