Orefuwa Eyes Bahraini League Glory After Breakthrough Season with Al Ahli
After a landmark season that signalled his emergence at senior level, Nigerian midfielder Michael Orefuwa is determined to help Al Ahli end their long wait for the Bahraini league title in the 2026/27 campaign.
The former Nigeria U-17 invitee heads into pre-season on a high after breaking into Al Ahli’s first team and inspiring the club’s U-21 side to its first NBB League title since 2004.
With Al Ahli resuming preparations on Monday, 20 July, Orefuwa said last season marked a major turning point in his career and expressed confidence that the team can challenge for league honours for the first time since 2010.
The youngster also credited the experienced international players at the club for aiding his development, saying he is improving every day.
On his international aspirations, Orefuwa said his priority remains consistent performances for Al Ahli, stressing that he will be ready whenever a national team opportunity comes, whether at U-23 level or beyond.
