Troops Establish New Base In Katsina To Reclaim Bandit-Hit Community

Efforts to restore normalcy in communities devastated by banditry have received a boost as troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, established a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Sayaya, Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The military said the deployment was prompted by persistent attacks that forced residents to flee the community, allowing armed bandits to use the area as a staging ground and supply route.

The new base is expected to deny criminal elements access to the location and consolidate gains recorded during Operation CLEAN SWEEP III, which destroyed several terrorist enclaves.

According to Operation FANSAN YAMMA, the FOB will enhance security, neutralise terrorist and bandit elements, and create conditions for displaced residents to return safely to their homes, farms and other livelihoods.

The operation reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property across Katsina State, assuring that troops would sustain offensive operations to eliminate banditry and other security threats.

It also urged members of the public to support security agencies with timely and credible intelligence.
