Police Arrest Terror Suspects, Murderers, Cultists In Nationwide Crackdown
Nigeria Police recorded major operational successes across several states in the last 24 hours, dismantling a suspected terrorist network, arresting murder and armed robbery suspects, recovering illegal firearms and rescuing critical public infrastructure from criminal activities.
In Imo State, operatives of the Police’s Vehicle Crime Recovery Unit raided a suspected terrorist hideout in Eziudo, Ezinihite Mbaise Local Government Area, arresting four armed suspects.
Recovered from the hideout were three pump-action guns, 30 live cartridges, Biafra flags, military and police uniforms, recruitment forms, charms and photographs of alleged group leaders.
Police said the suspects confessed to ongoing recruitment and involvement in several terrorist attacks across the state.
The command also arrested five suspected cultists in Owerri, recovering four locally fabricated firearms, 31 rounds of ammunition, a dagger and a suspected confraternity scarf.
In Benue State, police arrested a woman identified as Nancy Sunday for allegedly killing her one-month-old stepdaughter while the child’s mother was away. Detectives have launched an investigation.
In Lagos, police arrested a murder suspect accused of fatally stabbing a 19-year-old with a pair of scissors during an altercation in Alapere-Ketu.
Elsewhere, police apprehended a suspected armed robber in Ebonyi State, recovered an illegal firearm in Akwa Ibom, reclaimed an abandoned stolen vehicle in the FCT and arrested two suspects accused of vandalising railway infrastructure and forcing a train to make an emergency stop.
All the cases have been transferred to the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments for further investigation and possible prosecution.
