NCDMB, Renaissance Launch 12-Month Training To Prepare 300 Nigerians For Oil, Gas Jobs
As Nigeria seeks to strengthen local capacity in its oil and gas industry, a new partnership is investing in young professionals with the skills needed to meet growing workforce demands.
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in collaboration with Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited, has commenced a specialised training programme for 300 young Nigerians in mechanical, electrical and instrumentation engineering.
The 12-month Oil and Gas Field Readiness Programme combines three months of classroom learning with nine months of hands-on industry experience through partner service companies.
Of the selected trainees, 240 are based in Lagos, while 60 will undergo training in Port Harcourt.
Speaking at the launch, NCDMB Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, said the initiative would deepen Nigerian participation in the oil and gas sector by equipping participants with globally recognised certifications and practical industry experience.
He urged beneficiaries to maximise the opportunity and emerge as future leaders in the sector.
Renaissance Africa Energy Company reaffirmed its commitment to building indigenous expertise, noting that the programme would expose participants to technical and practical aspects of oil and gas operations, including software development, networking and cybersecurity.
The lead training provider, Radial Circle, said the participants were selected through a competitive process involving thousands of applicants, with the goal of producing industry-ready professionals capable of contributing immediately to Nigeria’s energy sector.
