Power Supply Set To Improve As TCN Restores Benin-Omotosho 330kV Transmission Line
Electricity supply to parts of southern Nigeria is expected to improve following the restoration of the Benin-Omotosho 330kV Transmission Line by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
TCN announced that the transmission line was successfully restored at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday, 2 July 2026, after engineers completed the restringing of detached conductors and maintenance work on the affected sections.
The line had been out of service since 25 June following a conductor detachment, limiting power transmission to some distribution companies.
With the transmission line back in operation, Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), Eko Electricity Distribution Plc and Ikeja Electric are expected to off-take more electricity for distribution to customers across their franchise areas.
TCN apologised for the inconvenience caused by the outage and thanked affected customers for their patience and understanding during the repair period.
